PayByCity republishes official wage and price-parity statistics for education and comparison. Nothing on this site is financial, tax, immigration, or career advice.

Official sources

Metro wage medians come from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS). Cost-of-living indexes come from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis Regional Price Parities (RPP). PayByCity is not affiliated with BLS or BEA.

Local pay figures are official U.S. metro salary medians (May 2025). Cost of living uses a national index (2024, US average = 100). Compare pages may show approximate state income tax, not federal, local tax, or advice.

Source vintages: OEWS May 2025, RPP 2024. Seed as of May 15, 2026.

State income tax estimates

Some compare pages show an approximate single-filer state income tax take-home figure so you can see how interstate rate differences change gross pay needed for a similar net. Those schedules are simplified models for Tax year 2026 (approximate single-filer schedules), compiled from public rate tables (primarily Tax Foundation and FTA sources linked below). Federal income tax and employee FICA are not included.

Tax estimates omit local/city income taxes, credits, filing status, and most deductions beyond a flat standard deduction in the seed. Multi-state metros use the primary state code only. These figures are not a tax return and are not tax advice. Confirm with your state revenue agency or a qualified professional before making decisions.

Third-party job links

Links to Indeed and LinkedIn are provided for convenience so you can search current openings after reviewing wage and cost-of-living data. PayByCity does not verify, endorse, or display listings from those sites and is not affiliated with Indeed, LinkedIn, BLS, or BEA.

No warranty

We provide information “as is,” without warranties of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Markets, wages, prices, and tax law change. Always verify decisions against primary agency releases, current tax rules, and professional advice.

Cite BLS OEWS and BEA RPP as the underlying wage and price sources. Cite the tax compilations linked above (and your state revenue agency) for rate context. See methodology for join rules, tax model limits, coverage caps, and refresh notes.
